Welcome to our newsletter.

Created especially so we can keep you updated with what’s happening at Netherby House.

It continues to be a busy summer and we have been welcoming new guests, who have been charmed by the North York Moors, the Esk valley and the stunning coastline. We have seen a trend developing with guests who stay two or three nights – they are having dinner on the steam train from Whitby to Pickering and then dine with us at Netherby on the other evenings.

Little has changed at Netherby on the staff front! Wayne and Lee, our chefs, are still with us. We are also very fortunate to still have the same friendly restaurant and front of house staff. Chelsie, Desmene, Hayley and Joanne. Some of you may also have met my brother, David, who comes to help when we are busy.

Barry and I have just had a visit from our son and his wife and of course, our new little grand daughter who is just begining to sit up.

Wayne and Lee are still producing great food, using fresh local produce and maintaining the high standards you appreciate. They are continually searching for new dishes to excite you and we have introduced some homemade speciallity pies which have been very well received.

WHAT’S NEW

We have finally succumbed to the internet age and Netherby now has an online booking system via our web site. However, for those of you who like to speak to a human, you can still call us to make a booking.

Barry has gone into major egg production with 25 free range hens and a rooster called Wyatt to keep them in order! It was always an ambition of Barry’s to keep hens and the “girls” are doing a great job at supplying fresh eggs every day for our new breakfast menu.

We have a new coffee machine which grinds fresh coffee beans and turns them into a variety of deliciously different coffees. My favourite is the Mocachino! Chocolate with a dash of coffee.

The speciallity Yorkshire jams and marmalades that we provide at breakfast have been so well received by our guests that they are now available at reception for sale. In addition to our Wyatt’s eggs of course!

Although we have TV’s in all our bedrooms, we felt that you needed an additional space to watch TV and relax in comfort, so we have created a new residents, alcohol free lounge for you, with a large screen TV complete with sky. Perfect for that unmissable program! We also now have Wi-Fi for your computer connection.

The vegetable garden has proved a great success and has supplied all manner of vegetable and fruit for use in our restaurant. We like to grow as much as posible for the restaurant and this year we have been able to supply tomatoes, lettuce, beans, herbs, raspberries, plums, rhubarb and super sweet stawberries.

We are also delighted to be able to offer our own in-house beautician. Chelsie can offer a variety of beauty therapies in the comfort of your room. Whether it’s a relaxing massage or pampering yourself to a facial or manicure. Just ask at reception if you would like to make a booking.

THE FUTURE

We are continually looking for ways to improve the service we offer, and we have now begun to upgrade all our bedroom TV’s to flat screen digital with freeserve.

The garden continues to be a source of pleasure to our guests, as well as a labour of love to Barry and myself and David.
